Monday 4X4: Rockies Have Power Game

The Rockies do flex their muscles. They have 24 home runs among their 122 hits, the highest percentage of home runs of any team in baseball.

Their power game will be challenged in the opener on Monday. Steve Brault, the product of Regis University, is the scheduled starter for the Pirates. He has seventh lowest home run allowed rate in NL since the start of last season, 1.8 home runs every 100 batters.

The Rockies feature two of the biggest impact bats in the game -- Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Arenado. Blackmon has 25 games since 2016 with two extra-base hits and two runs scored, the most in MLB, and Arenado is tied for fourth with 19.

German Marquez starts Monday night for the Rockies and past history bodes well. Marquez is unbeaten against NL Central teams with a 2.58 ERA. He's 6-9 with a 5.10 ERA against the rest of MLB.
