Lineup for Rockies 1st Home Game, 25 Years Later

 

They came from nine different Major League teams, thrown together in Tucson, Ariz., in mid-February of 1993, a part of the expansion Colorado Rockies, and by the first week of April, they found themselves in the lineup for the first home game in the history of the franchise.

With a record crowd of 80,227 packed into Mile High Stadium, Eric Young, the first Rockies batter to step up to the plate in Colorado, worked a 3-2 count, and then unloaded a home run that sent the Rockies on their way to an 11-4 victory.
