Freeland Has Quality; Deserves Wins to Go With It

Kyle Freeland has provided plenty of quality for the Rockies this year. The results, however, aren't favoring him. Freeland has seven quality starts, tied for second in the NL behind Max Scherzer of the Nationals, who has nine.

There are 14 NL pitchers with six or more quality starts. There is, however, only one of the 14 with a losing record -- Freeland, who is 4-5.

And Freeland is setting the tone for the rest of the rotation. The Rockies, after all, rank third in the NL in quality starts. There is, however, one interesting turn of events: The Brewers have the best record in the NL, but they are tied for the fewest quality starts with 14.

While Freeland does lead the Rockies in quality starts with seven, he is tied with Chad Bettis and Jon Gray for the team lead in victories with seven.

Freeland does, however, is the only Rockies starter with a winning record at home. That's the good news. The bad news is the Rockies open a nine-game homestand on Friday. If the Rockies stay in rotation, Freeland will start only one of the nine games -- Tuesday night against the Giants
