Dunn, Oberg Activated; Rockies Balance Bullpen
Left-handed reliever Mike Dunn and right-handed reliever Scott Oberg were activated by the Rockies Wednesday afternoon in a series of roster moves that balances the Rockies bullpen with four left-handed relievers and four right-handed relievers.
Right-handed pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Brad Pounders were optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque to make room for Dunn and Oberg. Hoffman is considered a potential starting pitcher, and much like the Rockies have done with Antonio Senzatela since sending him to Albuquerque, Hoffman would seem most likely to get stretched out in the Isotopes rotation.
With the additions of Dunn and Oberg, the Rockies bullpen now features right-handers Yency Almonte, Wade Davis, Adam Ottavino and Oberg, and left-handers Jake McGee, Hunter Musgrave, Chris Rusin and Dunn.
Dunn and Oberg both made two one-inning relief appearances on minor-league rehab assignments -- with Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, and High-A Lancaster on Monday.
