Wednesday by Comparison: Rockies Arms, Bats Shared the July Hurrahs

It was late June and the doubters were ready to give up on the Rockies.

Now, look at them.

It's August 1, and the Rockies are in second place in the NL West, a half-game back of the Diamondbacks, and percentage point ahead of the Dodgers. And they haven't climbed back into the NL West race by accident.

It's been a team effort. Their pitchers and hitters have been among the elite in the NL.

The Rockies pitching staff led the NL in winning percentage, and ranked second in both ERA and hits per nine innings in July -- and that's with 12 games at Coors Field.
