Saturday by Comparison: Scoring 5 Runs the Hard Way

The Rockies were able to celebrate Friday night. They were the team that came from behind and pulled out a 5-4 victory against the Dodgers, allowing the Rockies to pull within 2 1/2 games of the Dodgers and D-backs, who are tied for the NL West lead.

But it wasn't easy.

The Rockies were 0-for-13 with runners.

But they still scored five runs.

DJ LeMahieu delivered a two-run home run in the first, ending a 96 at-bat stretch without a home run, and his first home run at Coors Field since June 9.

Trevor Story scored on a David Dahl fielder's choice grounder in the third.

And Ryan McMahon hit his first big-league home run off a left-hander, producing the final two runs in the seventh.

The 0-for-13 with runners in scoring position equaled the third most at-bats without a hit with a runner in scoring position in franchise history, three shy of the record 16 set in a 4-3, 12-inning win agasint the Reds on Aug. 24, 2008.

It also was the 10th time in franchise history -- the second time this year -- the Rockies were hitless in 12 at-bats or more with runners in scoring position. They were 0-12 in and 8-0 loss to the Angels at Coors Field on May 19.
