Left-hander Dunn On Pace to Be Activated When Eligible Sept. 3
Reliever Mike Dunn remains on pace to be activated from the disabled list by Sept. 3, having responded well to throwing a simulated game on Friday, and planning to join Triple-A Albuquerque this week to being a rehab assignment.
Given the fact Dunn is on the 60-day disabled list retroactive to July 4 with a left AC joint inflamation, he cannot be activated until Sept. 3, which means he will be able to give in at least a hand full of appearances for the Isotopes during his rehab assignment. It is the second time he has been on the disabled list this season, having missed 19 days in June with a left rhomboid strain.
“He’s been out for a while, so there’s going to be a lengthy rehab assignment for Mike to get out on the mound, build his arm back and gain confidence in how he’s throwing,” manager Bud Black told the media during his pre-game session prior to Sunday's game.
Dunn has worked only 17 innings in 25 appearances this season, compiling a 9.00 ERA and 2.35 WHIP. He has failed to work an inning in 12 of his appearances, including the only two appearances he made in between his two stints on the disabled list.
