Aggies Love Rebounds from Struggle at Wyoming to Earn MW Offensive Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS – Utah State sophomore quarterback Jordan Love bounced back from failing to pass for 100 yards against Wyoming to lead Utah State to a 61-19 win at New Mexico last Saturday, passing for 448 yards, and being selected the MW Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
San José State cornerback Dakari Monroe was named MW Defensive Player of the Week and Nevada punter Quinton Conaway garnered Special Teams Players of the Week honors. It is the fifth career MW weekly honor for Love and the first for Monroe and Conaway.
Love completed 23-of-34 passes and four touchdowns, and also rushed for a touchdown. He built the statisticaltotals and played only on the Aggies first drive of the second half. The 448 yards passing are the fourth biggest single-game total in Utah State history.
The Aggies improved to 7-1, and are ranked No. 18 in the AP Top 25, and No. 20 in the Amway Coaches’ Poll.
Monroe recorded six tackles, two interceptions, one of which was returned 50 yards for a touchdown, and broke up two passes in helping San Jose State snap a seven-game losing streak with a 50-37 victory against UNLV.
Conaway punted nine times for an average 51.1 yards in helping Nevada score a 28-24 victory against San Diego State. He had four punts downed inside the Aztec’s 20-yard line, including the final punt that left San Diego State on its own one-yard line with less than a minute to play.
