Fresno's Slover, Boise's Hughes Earn MW Volleyball Player of Week Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS — Fresno State’s Taylor Slover and Boise State’s Morgan Hughes earned the MW Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, respectively, for contests played through Nov. 4. It marks the first time that the pair have received the weekly honor in their career.

Slover, a senior outsider hitter, led the Bulldogs with 4.25 kills per set during the two-game weekend versus Boise State and Utah State. She posted 34 kills and 26 digs during the weekend, which was good enough for her 12th and 13th double-double during the 2018 season.

She had three blocks and only committed two reception errors during the weekend. She posted 4.56 points per set and 3.25 digs per set.

 Hughes, a senior middle blocker, had 15 blocks in wins against Fresno State and San Diego State, recorded 15 blocks during the weekend posting 1.67 per set. Against San Diego State posted a career-high 10 blocks, which ties for seventh-most in school history. In the 3-2 victory against Fresno State, she had a double-double with 13 kills on 19 attacks and notched 16 digs.
