Cowgirls Look to Stay Atop MWC vs. Aztecs

Coming off a win against UNLV that allowed the Cowgirls to move into a tie with the Runnin’ rebels for first place in the MWC standings, the Cowgirls are hosting San Diego State at the Auditorium Arena Wednesday while UNLV visits Air Force.

The Cowgirls game will tip off at 6:30 p.m., MST.

The Cowgirls moved into the tie first place with a 69-56 victory against UNLV on Saturday in which senior Liv Roberts scored 21 points, and seniors Natalie Baker and Marleah Campbell 11 apiece.
Roberts is averaging a team-high 13.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest, which ranks 10th and 14th in overall games, respectively in the MW. She is followed by sophomore Taylor Rusk who is adding 8.7 points and 3.0 assists.The Cowgirls are also outscoring their opponents 60.2-55.0 and out rebounding teams 33.8-32.0.
SDSU is currently 10-13 overall and 4-8 in league play. Senior McKynzie Fort is averaging 16.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest. Fellow senior Genna Gomez follows with 10.0 points plus 3.3 boards.. They return four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 11-19 and 6-12 in the league last season.
San Diego State leads the all-time series 28-27, including a 68-62 win in San Diego on Dec. 28, 2017.
