Cowboy Golfers Climb to 8th and 2nd Round of Tourney

PALM DESERT, Ca. -- Dan Starzonski, one of two Cowboy golfers competing as an independent in the Cowboy Desert Open shot an eight-under-par 64 Saturday to take the individual lead after two rounds in the tournament, being held in Arizona. The Cowboys, meanwhile, did well enough with the four designated Wyoming players to climb from a tie for 15th to eighth with a two-day scored of 581.

John Murdock and Quintin Pope led the five golfers competing as part of the Wyoming team with a two-round 143, tied for 24th place. Murdock backed up an opening round 73 by shooting a 70, and Pope, who was a part 72 on Friday, shot 71 in the second round.

Carl Underwood, competing as an independent like Starzonski, shot at 75, giving him a two-day 144, tied for 32nd.

Among the three other golfers competing for Wyoming Glen Workman shot at 71 for a 146, Aaron Lickteig shot a 72 for a two-day total of 149 and Drew McCulough shot a 72 for a 150 score.
