Cowboy Golfers Claim 10th in Arizona NIT

TUCSON -- Wyoming’s golf team turned in a 10-under par 278 in the third round of the Arizona NIT on Monday, claiming 10th place among the 16 teams entered in the Arizona NIT. The Cowboys 278 was the fifth lowest score of the three-round tournament.

The Cowboys finished with a three-round total of a two-under par 862.

Senior Drew McCullough led the way in the third round with a five-under 67, including seven birdies, one of three sub-par rounds turned in by Cowboys entries on Monday. It was his lowest round this spring, and propelled him to a top-20 overall finish tying for 16th at six under for the tournament.

Senior Arron Lickteig also concluded the event with a strong third-round score, carding a three-under-par 69 that included his second eagle of the tournament. The score brought him back to even-par for the tournament and a 41st place finish.

Senior Glenn Workman record a two-under-par 70 that included four birdies and left him with a six-over was UW’s third player to shoot under par on Monday, recording a round of 70 (-2). He made four birdies and just two bogeys to score his best round of the tournament and bring him to six-over, tying for 67th overall.

Senior Quintin Pope shot par 72 and finished tied for 72nd with an eight-over total of 224. Junior John Murdock shot a six-over-par third-round 78, bringing his tournament total to 221 (+5). Sophomore Dan Starzinski shot a three-over 75 on Monday, finishing tied with Pope for 64th.
