Cowgirls Look for Win To Claim MWC Regular Season Title

The Cowgirls basketball team closes out the regular season at the AA on Friday night against Boise State with a conference title at stake.

The Cowgirls (20-8) have won 20 games for the ninth time in coach Joe Legerski's 15 years, and are looking for the first regular season conference title in the Legerski era.

The Cowgirls, Boise State and UNLV are all 13-4 in the MWC, but the winner of the game in Laramie will emerge with the top seed in the MWC women’s tournament in Las Vegas next week. UNLV will be playing Utah State, and will have the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a victory.

A key factor for the women is senior Liv Roberts is expected to play after missing the Cowgirls loss at Air Force on Monday. Roberts leads the Cowgirls in scoring (14.0, ninth in the MWC) and is second in rebounds (6.0, 14th in the MWC). Junior Bailee Cotton average 6.3 rebounds per game, and is third on the team at 8.5 points. Sophomore Taylor Rusk is second in scoring at 9.5 points per game.

Sophomore Riley Lunfer leads Boise in scoring at 16.8 points per game, and senior Shalen Shaw leads the team in rebounds with 7.0 per game.

The Cowgirls and Broncos are 10-10 all-time, including a 66-51 victory for the Cowgirls in Boise on Jan. 8.
