Contreras Qualifies for 2 Events at NCAA Swim Championships
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Sophomore diver Karla Contreras placed sixth overall on the women’s three-meter springboard Tuesday night, qualifying in a second event from Zone E in the 2018 NCAA Championships. She qualifies in the event for the second consecutive season.
Contreras qualified in the one-meter springboard on Monday night.
Contreras scored a 304.85 in the prelims to make the final round of 18. She managed to move up to sixth in the second session with a total of 626.05. The top nine divers in the three-meter earned an NCAA Championship bid. Junior CeeJay Harris scored a 227.70 in the prelims and did not advance to the finals.
Junior Ryan Russi was the only Cowboy to compete on Tuesday, and finished 18th in the men's one-meter. Only the top five finishers in the event qualified for the NCAAs.
Wednesday's schedule includes the women’s and men’s platform events.
