Farm Report April 13: Rockies Add LH Starter for Albuquerque

Left-hander David Holmberg, who has pitched in the big leagues with the White Sox, Reds and Diamondbacks, was claimed by the Rockies and filled a spot in the Triple-A Albuquerque rotation. Holmberg, 27, was a second-round draft choice of the White Sox in 2009.

His big-league experience is limited to 37 appearances, seven starts, in which he made 37 appearances, and was 5-10 with a 5.49 ERA. 

He has a 3.69 ERA and 52-55 record in 187 minor-league appearances, including 172 starts. 

In Thursday's Games:

AAA Albuquerque (5-3) lost 10-3 to Las Vegas. Josh Fuentes was 2-for-3 with a triple, run scored RBI and walk. Harrison Musgrave started and allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings. 

AA Hartford (1-6) was off.

High A Lancaster (4-4) lost 6-2 at Lake Elsinore. Colton Welker hit his third home run and doubled, but in his fifth multi-hit game of the season his averaged dropped to .519. Trey Killian(0-1) gave up six runs in three innings. Heath Holder pitched four hitless innings, striking out seven.

A Asheville (1-7) lost 7-5 in 10 innings in its home opener against Columbia. Erick Julio started and allowed five runs in 1 2/3 innings. The Tourists got him off the hook, tying the game with a four-run fourth inning keyed by Ramon Marcelino's three-run home run, and Casey Golden's 468-foot home run in the sixth.
