Right-hander Ryan Castellani, a high school selection in the second round of the 2014 draft, is back at Double-A Hartford for a second year and making a statement. Castellani, who turned down an offer to Arizona State when the Rockies gave him a $1.1 million signing bonus, has allowed only 14 hits in 21 1/3 innings and has a 2.11 ERA, but has walked 13 batters in 21 1/3 innings.

He, however, just turned 22 on April 1, and is more than two years below the average age in the Eastern League. His no-decision in Hartford's 4-1 victory on Tuesday underscored his situation. He allowed just one hit and one run, and struck out five in five-plus innings, but when he walked the first two batters in the sixth he was replaced. Those were his fifth and sixth walks issued in the game.

In Tuesday's Action Down on the Farm

AAA Albuquerque (8-11) was off. The Isotopes open a five-game series with Las Vegas in Albuquerque on Wednesday.

AA Hartford (9-9) won 4-1 against Portland, the Yard Goats fifth win in the first five games of the current homestand, and ninth win in the last 12 games. Ryan Metzler hit a two-run home run, and Mylz Jones followed with a solo shot in the eighth inning to provide the winning margin. Matt Pierpoint earned his Eastern League-leading sixth save.

High A Lancaster (10-9) won 9-2 at Visalia. Tyler Nevin was 2-for-5 with two RBI, raising his average to .318. Brandon Gold (3-1) worked seven shutout innings, allowing four hits while walking two and striking out four in seven innings.

A Asheville (4-13) was rained out against Lexington for the second game in a row.
