Thurs (April 5): Yency Almonte Leaves With Tingling in Right Elbow

Right-hander Yency Almonte, ranked the No. 7 prospect in the Rockies system by Baseball America, was removed after getting one out and throwing 16 pitches in Thursday's season-opening start for Triple-A Albuquerque.

It is reportedly a recurrence of a problem Almonte has had in the past and is not considered serious. Word is he will miss one or two starts.

In Thursday's Games for the Rockies farm teams:

AAA Albuquerque (0-1) lost 9-3 at Salt Lake City: Catcher Tom Murphy was 3-for-4 with a home run and Noel Cuevas hita home run and stole a base. D.J. Johnson, who came on for Almonte int he first inning, gave up six runs in 2 2/3 innings.

AA Hartford (0-1) lost 6-0 against New Hampshire. Lefthander Jack Wynkoop, and eighth-round draft choice in 2015 out of the University of South Carolina, gave up two runs on six hits in four innings, but suffered the loss. 

High A Lancaster (1-0) won 9-7 against Modesto. Willie Abreu was 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI, and Colton Wlker homered.

Low A Asheville (0-1) lost 2-0 at Delmarva. Antonio Santos allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits and a walk in six innings but suffered the loss. Chad Spanberger was 2-for-4 with a double.
