Wednesday Farm Report: Ramos Earns Cal League POW

Lancaster first baseman Roberto Ramos, a 16th round draft choice in 2014, was selected the Cal League Player of the week after hitting .556 with five home runs and 14 RBI for the week ending May 6.

Ramos, who hit safely in the final 12 games at Lancaster a year ago, is hitting .317 this year, and unloaded his Cal League-leading 10th home on Tuesday.

In Tuesday's Games

AAA Albuquerque (16-17) won 5-1 at Reno, extending its winning streak to four games. David Holmberg (2-2, 7.07) allowed one hit and two walks, striking out four in six shutout innings for only the third quality start of the season for the Isotopes. Elliot Soto drove in a run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly and another in the ninth with a single.

AA Hartford (15-13) won 9-7 against Binghamton. Garrett Hampson hit a three-run home run in the third, and Matt Pierport earned his Eastern League-leading ninth save. Mylz Jones delivered two-run singles in the fourth and fifth innings. The Yard Goats have won 12 of their last 13 home games.

High A Lancaster (16-16) lost 6-5 against Inland Empire, a five-run ninth inning ending when Todd Jonah made a diving catcher of a sinking line drive by Carlos Herrera, with the tying run on second. Matt Dennis (2-5, 8.29) allowed five runs in six innings on eight hits and a walk, striking out four.
