Thursday Farm Report: No. 1 Draft Rolison Headed to Grand Junction

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Rolison, the Rockies No. 1 selection in the first-year player draft, has been assigned to the roster of Rookie Level Grand Junction, according to the website

Ryan Feltner, a right-handed pitcher out of UCLA who was the Rockies' fourth-round draft, also was added to the Grand Junction roster on Monday, according to the website.

AAA Colorado Springs (36-35) was off.

AA Hartford (34-36) won 6-3 at Akron. Catcher Dom Nunez (.201) was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and third baseman Mylz Jones (.280) rank his hitting streak to 10 games with a single, two runs scored and two walks. He is 10-for-23 with 10 runs scored and three RBI during the streak. Matt Pierpont earned his 19th save. Ryan Castellani (4-3, 4.99) allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out four in five innings for his first win since May 26.

High A Lancaster (33-37) was off for the Cal League All-Star break.

Low A Asheville (27-42) was off for the SAL All-Star break.

Short-season A Boise (3-3) lost 6-4 in its home opener to Salem-Keizer. First baseman Luis Castro (.400) hit two home runs and drove in three runs. Right-hander Shelby Lackey (1-1) allowed two runs on four hits in two innings. Pearson McMahan (4.00) started and allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk, striking out three in five innings.

Rookie Grand Junction (4-2) lost 7-4 to Idaho Falls. Alfredo Garcia (0-1) allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks, striking out three in six innings. Daniel Montano (.313) hit his first home run, and Todd Czinege (.426) ran his hitting streak to all six games this season with his second home run and a single in four at-bats.

Dominican Summer League South (6-10) won 2-1 at the Yankees. Kevin Garcia (3.27) started and worked four scoreless innings, allowing one hit, walking three and striking out six. Ricahrd Cespedes (1-1) earned the win in relief. Bladmir Restituyo (.250) doubled home Fadroel Cruz (.250), who tripled, with the winning run in the third. 

Dominican Summer League Northeast (9-7) won 11-5 against the Royals 2. The Rockies scored four runs in the fourth to take a 9-5 lead with a rally that was built around four stolen baes and four Royals errors. Yolki Pena (.234) was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored. Jonatan Mezquita (.190) was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Enrique Castillo (1-0, 4.22) earned the win in relief, allowing one run on three hits and two walks, striking out three, in 3 1/3 innings. Jerald Cabrera (16.88) started and allowed four runs on a hit and four walks, striking out three in 1 2/3 innings.
