Six Rockies Prospects Selected for Eastern League All-Star Team
Shortstop Brendan Rodgers, the top-ranked prospect in the Rockies organization, and five other members of the Hartford Yard Goats, were selected to the Eastern Division team for the Double-A league's All-Star Game.
The game will be played July 11th at Arm and Hammer Park in Trenton, N.J.
Joining Rodgers on the team are outfielders Yonathan Daza and Sam Hilliard, and pitchers Peter Lambert, Matt Pierpont, and Mitch Horacek.
Horacek, a native of LIttleton, was a Rule 5 draft by the Rockies from the Orioles at the Winter Meetings last December. He was a ninth-round draft choice of the Orioles out of Dartmouth in 2013. Horaceck, 25, ranks second in the Eastern League with eight holds and is third on the Hartford staff with a 2.37 ERA.
Rodgers, 21, leads the Eastern League with 36 extra-base hits and 143 total bases. He is tied for second with 20 doubles, and ranks fifth with 51 RBI and 14 home runs. He was the third selection overall in the 2015 draft.
Lambert is the top-ranked pitching prospect in the Rockies organization. He has matched a Hartford record by winning five consecutive starts, and leads the Eastern League with a 2.23 ERA, 92 2/3 innings pitched, and a 0.99 WHIP.
Daza, 24, is hitting .306 with 16 doubles, four home runs and 25 RBI. Hilliard is tied for fourth in the Eastern League with 18 stolen bases. He was an All-Star the last two seasons at Low-A Asheville in 2016, and High-A Lancaster in 2017. Pierpont leads the Eastern League with 21 saves in 22 opportunities.
