Tuesday Farm Report: 3 Tourists Earn Starter Roles in SAL All-Star Game

For all the struggles the Tourists (20-34) have had this season, three members of the Rockies Low-A Asheville affiliate were selected to the starting lineup for the South Team in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game June 19 in Greensboro, N.C.

First baseman Chad Spanberger, second baseman Bred Boswell and left fielder Casey Golden were selected for the starting assignments.

Spanberger was selected the SAL Player of the Week for last week, giving the Tourists back-to-back honorees. A week ago, Boswell was honored as the POW. Spanberger was 9-for-20 in five games with four home runs, six RBI and two stolen bases.

Spanberger is second in the SAL with a .330 average and second with 14 home runs. Golden is seventh in the SAL with a .313 average, third in home runs with 12 and second with 38 RBI. Boswell is eighth in the SAL with a .311 average.

All four Rockies minor league teams were off on Monday.
