Rodgers, Tinoco Selected to Play in Futures Game

Shortstop Brendan Rodgers, the top-ranked prospect in the Rockies farm system, is among two players from the Rockies system selected to play in the 2018 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game on July 15 as part of the All-Star Game events at Nationals Ballpark in Washington, D.C.

Rodgers will be on the United States team, and pitcher Jesus Tinoco, ranked the 17th best prospect in the Rockies system, will be on the World team. Both players are currently assigned to Double-A Hartford.

The United States team has won seven of the last eight games, giving it an all-time edge of 12-7.

Rodgers, the third player selected in the 2015 draft, is among 15 first-round draft choices selected to appear in the game -- 14 on the United States team, and outfielder Heliot Ramos of Puerto Rico, the Giants' first-round selection in 2017.

LaTroy Hawkins, whose career included time on the Rockies pitching staff, will be the pitching coach for the United States Team. Valdimir Guerrero, who will be inducted in the Hall of Fame later this month, is the hitting coach for the World Team.

The game will be televised by MLB Network.
