Monday Farm Report: Top Arms from Draft Making Strong Debut at Grand Junction

Ryan Rolison, the Rockies' first-round draft out of the University of Mississippi, and four-th-round draft Ryan Feltner from Ohio State are on work limits in their first pro season, but have impressed with their efforts at Rookie Level Grand Junction. They are the two highest drafted pitchers on an active roster. 

Mitchell Kilkenny, a second-round compensation pick out of Texas A&M, is on a medical rehab after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Rolison is 0-1 with a 2.12 ERA in five starts, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs in 17 innings. Kilkenny has no decision in six starts, but has allowed only two runs and 11 hits in 19 2/3 innings.

Matt Holiday hit a 2-run home run, his second in eight games with Triple-A Albuqerque. He connected off Josh James of Fresno with two out in the sixth. He is hitting .233.

In Sunday's games

AAA Albuquerque (55-64) lost 9-4 at Fresno. Peter Lambert (2-4, 5.61) allowed seven runs, six earned, on eight hits and a walk, striking out four. Justin Hampson (.320) was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

AA Hartford (53-63) lost 3-1 in a rain-shortened six-inning game against Bowie. A second game to make up Saturday's rainout, was postponed because of rain for a second day. 

High A Lancaster (30-20 2nd half; 63-57) lost 5-2 at Rancho Cucamonga. Brandon Gold (9-7, 5.26) allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits, striking out eight, in six innings. Third baseman Alan Trejo (.281) hit his ninth home run in the first with a runner on base. He also singled.

Low A Asheville (26-22 2nd half; 53-64) won 9-2 at Greensboro. Garrett Schilling (6-4, 3.44) allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit, striking out six, in five innings. Ramon Marcelino (.235) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Matt McLaughlin (.243) was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run in the sixth. 

Short-Season A Boise (6-11 2nd half, 27-28) won 7-1 vs. Spokane. Jairo Diaz (1-0, 4.50) gave up a run on a hit and a walk, striking out one, in the sixth, but was credited with the victory. Alex Byrd (3.55) started and pitched five shutout innings, allowing two hits and a walk, striking out three. Danny Edgeworth (.268) had a three-run double, and scored himself in the four-run sixth. Will MacIver (.304) hit his fifth home run, a three-run shot, in the eighth.

Rookie Grand Junction (10-6 2nd half; 30-24) lost 5-0 against Helena. Grant Lavigne (.373) was 1-for-1 with a double, and two walks, and Hunter Stovall (.291) singled for the Rockies only other hit. Fourth-round pick Ryan Feltner from Ohio State (0.92) allowed one hit and a walk, striking out four, in three innings. Rayne Supple (0-1, 3.44) suffered the loss in relief, giving up three runs on two hits and a walk, striking out one, in one inning.

Dominican Summer League South (20-40) and Dominican Summer League Northeast (42-18) were off.
