Golden Claims SAL Player of Month Award for August

Outfielder Casey Golden of the Rockies Low Class affiliate at Asheville was selected the South Atlantic League Player of the Month for August by Minor League Baseball.

Golden, the Rockies 20th-round draft choice out of North Carolina-Wilmington in 2017, hit .316 for the month, and led the South Atlantic League in runs (24), extra-base hits (18), total bases (68), home runs (nine), RBI (26), slugging (.716), OPS (1.147) and hit by pitch (nine).

Golden was fourth in on-base percentage (.431) and recorded nine multi-hit games in August.

Golden earlier was voted the MVP of the South Atlantic League for 2018, after leading the SAL with 34 home runs and 95 RBI, 20 more than the runnerups, teammates Sean Bouchard and Chad Spanberger. He also finished eighth in the SAL with a .278 average.
