Lancaster Comes Up Short in Game 2 of Cal League Playoffs

Lancaster failed to take advantage of the home-field advantage, and now faces a major challenge in the first round of the High-A California League playoffs. After winning the opening game at home, Lancaster dropped a 6-5 decision to Rancho Cucamonga in Game 2 on Thursday.

Big deal? Definitely. The best-of-five series now moves to Rancho Cucamonga for the remaining games, beginning with Game 3 on Friday. Lancaster was 2-11 at Rancho Cucamonga in the regular-season.

Lancaster rallied to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning of Game 2, but Rancho Cucamonga answered quickly, knocking JetHawks starting pitcher Antonio Santos out with a go-ahead rally in the sixth thanks to a Carlos Rincon home run and RBI-single from Nick Yarnall.

Santos allowed six runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out four, in 5 1/3 innings.

ROOKIE LEVEL GRAND JUNCTION opens its Pioneer League best-of-three first-round playoffs in Ogden on Friday night. The first two games will be played in Ogden with a Game 3 at Grand Junction if necessary.

If the Rockies were to win the first round, the best-of-three second round would begin with Game 1 in Grand Junction before moving to the opponent's ballpark for Game 2, and if necessary, Game 3.
