So Cal DB Allen Smith Becomes Third Known Cowboys FB Commit
Allen Smith, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back from Culver City (Ca.) High School, announced on twitter Monday that he is committed to the University of Wyoming. He is the third known commitment for the Cowboys.
Running back Parker Christensen from Sheridan, and linebacker Easton Gibbs from Temecula (Ca.) Valley High previously announced thier college decision.
Smith could fit into the Wyoming defensive alignment at the “nickel back,” which is a cross between a defensive back and linebacker. Tyler Hall, a junior, and Chavez Pownell, Jr., are the two players at that position on the Wyoming depth chart.
Smith, who also had an offer from Cal-Davis and several other Division I schools which have shown interested, was among the recruits making a visit to campus last weekend for the Cowboys win against Wofford.
“I liked the small-town feel, and I know I can focus better there,” Smith told WyoSports. “All the coaches and players felt like a brotherhood. I connected well with them. The facilities were nice, everything was nice.
“I always wanted to go away for college and be on my own, and learn things on my own. After the visit, I knew Wyoming was the right fit for me.”
