Cowboys Holding Back on Evans Decision; Could be Game Time Call

Cowboys senior running back Nico Evans, who came out of Saturday's game with Washington State five players into the third quarter with rib problems, is a possibility to be in the backfield Saturday at Missouri.

"I think Nico Evans will be day-to-day," coach Craig Bohl said Monday. "We'll find out a bit more as we go on. It could be a game day situation. ... All these games are important for us, so we're going to put our football team in the best position to help us"

Bohl also added:

"(Tight end) Austin Fort, I would say, will not travel this week. I know I had released the fact we though Alonzo Velazquez would start (against Washington State) and he experienced some welling in that knee after the recovery from surgery so we held him out. He uld have played, but it would have been a very limited amount.

True Freshman Jevon Bigelow picked up the bulk of the playing time after Evan's departure last Saturday, but Bohl said he would look it it being a multiple-player approach if Evans is out. In addition to Bigelow, red-shirt freshman Xazavian Valladay is on the Cowboys depth chart for the week.

"They bring something different," said Bohl. "They are different type of runners, although we're running the same plays. The both of those guys will play.

"We also will play Dauson Booker as a third tailback. He's bee taking reps at the spot."

Booker, a true freshman from Modesto, Ca., had been listed as a 6-foot, 190-pound safety on the depth chart.

The Depth Chart released Monday included three changes from last week. Weak-Side Linebacker Cassh Maluia returned to the No. 1 spot after his one week suspension. Adam Pilapil, who was No. 1 at weak-sided linebacker a week ago, returned to No. 1 at Middle Linebakcer behind Logan Wilson. And Victor Jones steps in as the backup defensive end in place of Trey Wood.
