LARAMIE – The Wyoming women’s golf team continues its fall season this weekend, joining 16 other teams in the Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate, which will be held at the par-72, 6,513-yard University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch.

Aside from Wyoming, the field features Nevada, Nebraska, Northern Colorado, UC Davis, Denver, Washington State, Ole Miss, UTSA, Minnesota, Colorado State, Cal Poly, Kansas, Tulsa, Idaho and Central Arkansas.

The Cowgirl golf team posted a three-round 899 (+35) to finish tied for 12th at the stacked Ron Moore Women’s Intercollegiate in 2017. The Cowgirls closed out the 54-hole event on Sunday with a 298 (+10) and were led by sophomore Erin Sargent who finished tied for 19th.

Sargent carded an even-par 72 on Sunday at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club as she knocked in a team-best six birdies during the final round. She concluded the event with a 217 (+1), which was not only the best three-round score of her sophomore season, but the best of her career to that point.

The Cowgirls are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate at the 6,097-yard, par-72 Classic Club. Three Cowgirls finished in the top 25, led by Erin Sargent who tied for ninth. The Cowgirls fired their lowest score of the tournament with a 309 to follow up Saturday’s scores of 316 and 311 in their first two rounds. Wyoming finished at 72-over for the tournament, as the course challenged each team in the field.

Sargent carded the lowest round of any Cowgirl on the weekend in her final round, firing a 2-over 74 over her final 18 to tie for ninth. The Wyoming junior rebounded from a tough start to her tournament on Saturday morning to finish at 11-over (77-76-74). Her final-round 74 tied her season low.
