Cowgirls Look to Maintain Grip on No. 1 Hoops Seed

The Cowgirls travel to the Air Force Academy on Tuesday night, looking to take another step toward clinching the No. 1 seed in the MWC Women’s Basketball Tournament, which opens in Las Vegas on Monday. The Cowgirls and UNLV both have 13-3 records, however the Cowgirls beat the Lady Rebels in their only game of the season, giving the Cowgirls the tiebreaker if the teams finish the season tied.

The Cowgirls are 20-7 overall coming off a 74-57 win over Fresno State on Saturday when Bailee Cotton turned in her fourth double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Liv Roberts leads the team with an average 14 points and six rebounds a game, ranking 10th in scoring and 14th in rebounds in the MWC.

Air Force is 3-24 overall and 30-13 in the MWC following a 57-55 loss to Utah State on Saturday. The Falcons scoring leaders are freshman Kalin Immel, who leads the team with 14.4 points per game, and Emily Conroe, who averages 10.9. The Falcons are averaging only 55.2 points per game.

The Cowgirls lead the all-time series 49-2.
