Cowgirl Golfers Finish 12th in Rebel Beach Invite

LAS VEGAS – The Cowgirls golf team finished with a three-round 76-over-par 940, finishing in 12th place in the Rebel Beach Invitational at the Spanish Trail Country Club. Junior Megan Knadler shot a 10-over-par 82 on Tuesday, but still led the team with a three-round sixteen-over-par 232 for a share of 43rd place in the 71-player field. 

“It was a tough day and tournament for us,” Cowgirl head coach Josey Stender said. “We just couldn’t get anything going, especially on the greens. We are capable of so much better and every player knows that. We will work very hard over the next two weeks to prepare for our back to back events in St. George, Utah.”

The Cowgirls will play in the BYU at Entrada ClassicMarch 12-13, and after a day off take part in the Lady Thunderbird Invitational on March 15-16.

Sophomore Erin Sargent shot a four-over par 76 on Tuesday, the top score for a Cowgirl on the final day. She finished with a nineteen-over-par 235 to finish 51st. Redshirt sophomore Kaylee Knadler posted two birdies in a nine-over-par final-round 81 (+9), and finished tied for 53rd with a 237 (+21).

Redshirt freshman Caitlyn Skavdahl and senior Gabrielle Gibson each finished with a three-round mark of 244 (+28), tied for 62nd. Junior Sarah Hankins, playing as an individual, had an 81 (+9) during the final 18 holes, and brought her three-round total to 251 (+36).

UNLV won the team honors at seventeen-over-par 881 after a three-over-par three 291 on the final day. BYU’s Kendra Dalton shot a par 72 on Tuesday, and shared first place with Julia Johnson of Mississippi.
