Greinke Has Survived and Thrived Challenges of Coors

Zack Greinke gets it.

It’s about winning.

It’s not about style.

Coors Field is not a pitcher friendly environment, but there is a winner every game. And that, for Greinke, is what matters – winning.

And Greinke has accomplished that for himself, and the team he is pitching for, over the years at Coors Field.

With Friday’s victory against the Rockies, Greinke is now 4-1 lifetime at Coors Field and his teams – the Brewers, Dodgers and now Diamondbacks – are 7-3 in the games he has started at Coors Field.

Ironically, outside of Coors Field, Greinke has made 16 starts against the Rockies. He's 6-4 and his team is only 8-8.

It's not like Grienke doesn't face challenges with the Rockies. Trevor Story made his MLB debut on Opening Day 2016, and hit three home runs off Greinke in that game. On Friday night, he homered off Grienke for the fifth time. Story is one of three players with five career home runs off Grienke -- the most of any hitters. The other two? Story's Rockies teammate, Carlos Gonzalez, and former Rockies player Jason Giambi.

In only 29 at-bats, Story also has 11 RBI, tied with Giambi and Grady Sizemore for the most RBI of any hitters against Greinke.
