Rams Men, Women Hoops Teams Lose A Player Apiece

The Colorado State basketball programs will each have a scholarship opening up next season. Kris Martin of the men’s team and Sofie Tryggedsson of the women’s team each made announcements on social media Tuesday.

Martin announced on Twitter that he will be transferring to Oklahoma and Tryggedsson announced her intention to leave the program via Instagram.

Martin’s decision to transfer is not much of a surprise. The 6-foot-5 guard announced that he had been granted permission to contact other schools on Mar. 21.

"I have decided to explore my options and have been granted permission to contact other schools," Martin posted on Twitter last week. "CSU is still an option."

Martin sat out the 2017-18 season after transferring to CSU from Oral Roberts where, in two seasons, Martin averaged 10.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Tryggedsson played three seasons under Ryun Williams, winning two conference championships along the way. Tryggedsson was a big contributor for the Rams averaging 25 minutes per game this season. The Aarhus, Denmark native averaged six points and four rebounds per contest.

Along with her experience at CSU, Tryggedsson also played for the Danish national team in 2010, 2011 and 2012. The junior guard has not yet announced what her next step will be.
