Rams Softball Team Ends 20-Year Drought at Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Rams softball team pulled out an 8-6, 12-inning victory in the first game of  a doubleheader on Friday, only the second Rams win in 16 games all-time against Kansas. Kansas won Game 2, 6-3.

It was the Rams first victory against Kansas since 1998.

The teams completed the three-game series with a noon game Saturday.

Bridgette Hutton earned her 10th win of the season by going the distances in the 12-inning victory.

Kansas rallied form 3-0 and 4-3 deficits in Game 1, but the Rams had the answer in extra innings. After both teams scored in the 11th, Colorado State finally put together the game-winning rally thanks to Ashley Michelena’s bases-loaded two-run double, and an ensuing run-scoring single from Sarah Muzik.

Lauren Buchanan’s three-run home run, who second home run of the day, gave the Rams a 3-2 lead in Game 2, bu the Jayhawks took charge with a three-run sixth.
