Rams Softball Makes a Statement Against Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Colorado State softball team stunned Kansas 14-6 in six innings on  Saturday, taking the series 2-games-to-1 against a school that CSU had beaten only once in 14 meetings prior to the weekend.

The Rams are 10-2 this year when scoring in the first inning. Corina Gamboa started things with her seventh homer of the season in the top of the first to give the Rams a 2-0 lead.

After Kansas took a 3-2 lead int he bottom of the first the Rams scored two more times in the second, and one more in the fourth

Colorado State took control with a four-run fifth in which Hannah McCorkhill and Danni Klein scored on a passed ball, and Ashley Michelena tripled home a run and Lauren Buchanan doubled home another.
