VJ Banks Becomes Third Grad Transfer Commit for Rams Football
Rice graduate transfer cornerback VJ Banks announced on twitter Monday he committed to Colorado State, becoming the third grad transfer to join the Rams program this spring.
Quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels (Washington) and offensive tackle T.J. Roundtree (Louisville) each signed with head coach Mike Bobo in March.
In 33 career games over four seasons, Banks recorded 76 total tackles, 55 of which were solo and also had a pair of interceptions. As a junior in 2016, Banks started a career-high 11 games and recorded 37 tackles.
The veteran defensive back received a redshirt for 2017 after injuring his leg and missing all but two games during his senior season. The Baton, Rouge La. native majored in Kinesiology.
Banks joins a secondary that currently includes a veteran presence at the safety positions with Jordan Fogal and Jamal Hicks, but is relatively thin on the outside after losing Kevin Nutt Jr.
