CSU Softball Ends Non-Conference Play With Win at UNC

GREELEY, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team finished its non-conference schedule Tuesday afternoon with a 9-1 victory over Northern Colorado in five innings. The win was the second time this season the Rams have defeated the Bears this season. They also claimed a 9-4 victory in the home opener Feb. 27.

 Lauren Buchanan continued her hot streak, going 3-for- with five RBI and two doubles.

She got the Rams started with a double to center field to score Sarah Muzik who started the game with a walk. Haley Donaldson followed with a double herself down the right-field line to score another run. Donaldson eventually scored on a passed ball to give the Rams a 3-0 early lead.

The Rams added to their lead the next inning after Buchanan knocked a base hit to center to score two more runs and put the score at 5-0 in favor of the CSU.

Northern Colorado scored its lone run in the bottom of the third after loading the bases on walks before scoring on a fielder’s choice.

CSU added to its lead in the top of the fourth as Buchanan and Donaldson hit back-to-back doubles to score three more runs to increase the Rams lead to 8-1.

Colorado State put the run rule into effect in the following inning after Dani Klein hit an RBI single to left.

CSU finished its non-conference schedule 16-7 overall, 6-0 at home and 4-3 on the road.
