Rams Rout New Mexico With Big Wins In Final 2 Games
Hannah McCorkhill had four hits and four RBI, and the Colorado State softball team beat New Mexico 12-4 in five innings on Sunday. The victory came on the heels of an 8-0, six-inning win in the second game played on Saturday.
With four runs in the first, including a Haley Donaldson home run, and five more in the second the Rams took cnotrol of the game. New Mexico avoided the shutout in the top of the third with a solo home run and a fielder’s choice RBI to put the score at 9-2 in favor of the Rams. The Lobos scored another pair of runs in the fourth off of a single and a sac fly to cut into the Rams’ lead
“I think we had a little lack of focus or confidence that first game,''said coach Jen Fisher. "Our staff tried to explain to the team that if you want to be a championship team – we want them to experience post-season – you’ll be able to look back on the season and see a couple of times that they lacked focus or confidence. Those times could cost you your goals and where you want to be. Moving forward, we’re trying to focus on that and don’t let it happen again
Bridgette Hutton earned the win after going 3 1/3 inning allowing the four earned runs. Kaylynn Pierce came in as relief, finishing the game with just two hits.
