Cowboys Athletics Rank 9th in MWC in Department Revenues

Wyoming athletics has the ninth highest revenue among 12 Mountain Western Conference schools -- including Hawaii, which is a football-only member -- and ranks ninth in the league in terms of expenses, according to a survey of the 2017 budgets conducted by USA Today.

Air Force had the highest revenues at 59,577,780, but that ranked only 55th among Division I athletic departments. Texas had the largest revenues at $214,830,647, just ahead of Texas A&M with revenues of $211,960,034. There were 31 athletic departments with revenues in excess of $100 million.

Revenue involves tickets stales, contributions, rights fees, licensing, student fees and school funds. Air Force also had the largest amount of funding allocated by the school at $33,339,247 or 55.96 percent of the athletic departments revenue. 

Wyoming's allocated funds of $18,452,045 accounted for 45.7 percent of the departments revenue. The allocation ranked ahead of only New Mexico, Nevada and Boise State.
