By Comparsion: Freeland Raises the Stakes for Rockies Pitchers
Kyle Freeland has had an elite season for the Rockies.
In earning the victory in the Rockies post-season clinching victory on Friday, he closes out the regular season with a 17-7 record, equaling the most wins by a left-handed pitcher in franchise history. His 2.85 ERA is the lowest in franchise history, the fourth lowest in the NL this year. His 2.40 ERA at Coors Field is not only a franchise record, but is the third lowest home-field ERA for an NL starting pitcher this year.

The Rockies have the second highest victory total after 160 games in franchise history, and by winning the final two games of the regular season they would equal the franchise record for regular season wins set in 2009. And if they were to win the last two games they also would claim a division title for the first time in franchise history. They head into Satuday with a Magic Number to clinch the NL West of two — any combination of Rockies victories and Dodgers losses.
