Farm Report April 19: Hoffman Set for 3rd Rehab Start

Right-handed pitcher Jeff Hoffman will make his third start on a medical assignment on Wednesday night, pitching for Triple-A Albuquerque at Tacoma. Hoffman has Hoffman, sidelined early in the spring with a shoulder issue, allowed two runs on five hits and a hit batter in a start at High-A Lancaster to start his rehab, and then went 3 1/3 innings, giving up three hits, including a home run, and two walks while allowing three runs in a start for the Isotopes.

In Wednesday's Games

Triple-A Albuquerque (6-8) lost 14-2 at Tacoma. Sam Howard (0-2) allowed five runs in four innings, and then the bullpen was hit hard again. Isotope relievers, who have been scored upon in 13 of 14 games, allowed nine runs in four innings at Tacoma. Daniel Castro did extended his hitting streak to 12 games, longest in the PCL.

Double A Hartford (4-8) won 9-4 at Portland. Garrett Hampson went 2-for-3, raising his average to .304. He singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh, and drove in two more runs in the eighth. Reliever Scott Griggs worked two shutout innings for the win. Hartford's win was its fourth in six games.

High A Lancaster (7-7) lost 11-4 against Rancho Cucamonga. The Quakes hit five home run, three by Rylan Bannon. Brandon Gold (2-1) gave up five runs in five innings, and Lancaster hitters struck out 18 times.

A Asheville (3-10) lost 8-5 against Rome. Nick Kennedy (0-1) gave up five runs on seven hits and three walks, striking out seven in 7 1/3 innings. Chad Spanberger's two-run single in the fourth was the only RBI hit for Asheville. Spanberger went 2-for-4, raising his average to .340.
