From the offices of Stats Perform

MARLINS (25-33) at RED SOX (36-23)

● The Red Sox are 30-13 (.698) all-time against the Marlins, the best record in any matchup of two current franchises that have played each other at least 40 times.

● Xander Bogaerts had a go-ahead RBI in the eighth and 10th innings of Sunday's win over the Yankees. He was the first Red Sox player to have two separate go-ahead RBI in the eighth inning or later at Yankee Stadium since Pete Daley did it on September 4, 1957.

● Hitters are batting .018 (1-for-55) against Nick Pivetta this year in plate appearances where Pivetta started by getting ahead in the count 0-2. That's the lowest mark among ERA qualifiers this season.

● The Marlins have gone 48 consecutive games without scoring double-digit runs in a contest, the third-longest active drought behind the Pirates (95) and Mariners (62).

● Jesus Aguilar has 12 homers this season, all of which have come on the road. That's tied for the second-most consecutive homers coming on the road to begin a season in the divisional era (since 1969), behind only Jose Abreu for the White Sox in 2017 (first 13 on road).

● Pablo Lopez has a 2.36 career ERA in interleague play, fourth lowest among active pitchers (minimum nine starts) behind Luis Severino (1.46), Clayton Kershaw (2.12) and Garrett Richards (2.31).

ROYALS (29-28) at ANGELS (27-32)

● The Angels are 11-5 against Kansas City since the start of the 2018 season, including a 5-1 record at home. The Royals won two games of a three-game set at home from April 12-14.

● Los Angeles had a season-high 12 runs and matched a season high with eight extra-base hits in Saturday’s 12-5 defeat of the Mariners. The Angels have scored double-digit runs six times this season, tied for second most in the AL (Red Sox, 7).

● The Royals have dropped back-to-back games on the heels of a five-game winning streak, with both losses coming by one run. Their only losing streak of three or more games this year was an 11-gamer from May 2-13.

● Andrew Benintendi has hit safely in seven straight games and driven in at least one run in a career-high five straight contests. His 11 RBI since the start of June are tied with the Rays’ Austin Meadows for the most in the majors.

● Justin Upton went 6-for-14 with three homers and seven RBI in the Angels’ four-game series with Seattle through Sunday. He has a .333/.408/.714 slash line in 11 games out of the leadoff position in the order this year, compared to .191/.277/.412 in all other games.

● Dylan Bundy is the only MLB pitcher with at least 10 starts this year and no wins (0-6). His 6.49 ERA is the fifth highest among that group, while his 1.58 run support average (run support per 9 IP) is the lowest.

CUBS (33-26) at PADRES (36-25)

● The Cubs have won four straight games against San Diego, including a three-game sweep at home last week. It’s their longest win streak in the series since 2008 (four); they haven’t won five or more straight against the Padres since 2003-04 (six).

● Chicago had won six consecutive series before dropping three of four games at San Francisco over the weekend. The last two of those games (including the lone win) were decided by one run, giving the Cubs an MLB-high 23 one-run games this year (13-10 record).

● San Diego is just 2-6 over its last eight games, scoring four or fewer runs in all eight games (2.25 per game). The longest such streak in the majors this year is 10 games by the Mariners from May 16-26.

● Fernando Tatis Jr. is tied for the NL lead with 17 home runs (with Ronald Acuna Jr. and Jesse Winker). He’s accounted for 27.9 percent of the Padres’ home run total (17/61), the highest percentage by any MLB player.

● Patrick Wisdom hit a pair of home runs in yesterday’s win over the Giants and is up to seven homers in just 13 games played this year. The last Cub with as many as seven home runs through his first 13 games in a season was Lee Walls in 1958 (eight).

● Ryan Weathers allowed four earned runs in 5.0 innings in last week’s loss to the Cubs after giving up just three earned runs over his first six starts of the season combined (1.21 ERA).
