MARINERS (45-42) at NATIONALS (30-58)

● The Nationals are an NL-worst 14-31 at home this season, where they've lost 13 of their last 16 games. However, since moving to Washington in 2005, the Nats have won 13 of their 15 meetings with Seattle and is 8-1 all-time against the Mariners at home.

● The Mariners are trying for their first nine-game winning streak since 2003. During the eight-game win streak, Seattle pitchers have an ERA of 1.82 compared to their 3.77 ERA for the season prior to the streak.

● Chris Flexen is coming off the first scoreless start of the season and has allowed three runs or fewer in eight straight outings. He's 4-2 with a 3.09 ERA during that stretch, yielding two homers over 46.2 innings pitched.

● Josiah Gray recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in his last start on Wednesday against Philadelphia but also gave up two home runs. Only Cincinnati’s Hunter Greene has given up more homers this season in MLB than Gray (18).

● Juan Soto has reached base at least once in each of his last 20 games, which is the longest active such streak in the majors. The longest such streak of Soto’s career is 21 games, something he has done three different times.

● On Sunday, Carlos Santana recorded his first two-homer game in just over a year with his last multi-homer game coming on July 8, 2021. He's gone yard in consecutive games for the first time since July 23-24, 2021 and has a .324/.425/.618 slash line over his last 10 games.

REDS (32-54) at YANKEES (61-25)

● Coming off their first series sweep of more than two games this season, the Reds are trying for their first five-game winning streak since August of last season. At 182-244 (.427), they own the majors' worst all-time interleague winning percentage and are 68-104 (.395) vs. AL teams since 2014.

● A day after he was activated from the IL, Tyler Stephenson tied his season high with three hits on Sunday. He's batting .519/.552/.815 with two homers and nine RBI in his last seven contests.

● Mike Moustakas ended a 37-game home run drought on Sunday with the 200th of his career. He has a .180 career average (11-for-61) with four homers and seven RBI in 17 games at Yankee Stadium and is 0-for-7 with three strikeouts lifetime vs. Gerrit Cole.

● The Yankees are trying to avoid their second three-game losing streak of the season as they host Cincinnati for the first time since July 2017. The team is 4-1 in interleague play this season, having outscored its opponents by a combined score of 46-10 in those games.

● In 13 career starts vs. the Reds, Gerrit Cole is 1-8 with a 4.68 ERA, his fourth-highest ERA against any opponent. He's allowed one run or fewer in five of his last six starts at Yankee Stadium, compiling a 1.54 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and .486 opponent OPS.

● Matt Carpenter has posted three straight multi-hit games (7-for-9) for the first time since August 2018. He's batting .464/.516/.964 with four homers, nine RBI and an AL-leading 1.480 OPS in July (minimum 30 plate appearances).

PHILLIES (46-41) at BLUE JAYS (45-42)

● Ontario native Rob Thomson will be the Canadian manager in MLB history to manage a game in his home country when the Phillies open a three-game series in Toronto. Philadelphia has lost 16 of its last 21 road games against American League opponents.

● Phillies’ teammates Rhys Hoskins and Kyle Schwarber are tied for second among all batting average qualifiers with a 1.022 OPS since the beginning of June with them both only trailing Yordan Alvarez’s 1.239 OPS for the major league lead in that span.

● Phillies RHP Corey Knebel has given up one hit over 7.2 scoreless innings in his last eight appearances. He's allowed one earned run on three hits over 9.1 IP in his last nine outings against AL opponents.

● The Blue Jays have lost nine of their last 10 games. Toronto has the majors’ third lowest batting average (.176) and lowest slugging percentage (.230) with runners in scoring position over this 10-game span.

● Blue Jays RHP Jose Berrios has been struggling as of late with a 7.30 ERA in his last five starts. This is the fourth highest ERA Berrios’ has posted in any five-start stretch of his career and his highest since he posted a 7.57 ERA over five starts with the Twins in 2019.

● Blue Jays SS Bo Bichette tied a season high with three hits on Sunday and has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games (.290/.323/.468) with two homers and nine RBI.

BREWERS (48-39) at TWINS (48-40)

● Brewers’ closer Josh Hader got the save in his last time out but has given up runs in three straight appearances. This is his first streak of three or more consecutive appearances allowing a run since August of 2019 when he did so in five straight appearances.

● Brewers OF Andrew McCutchen is a lifetime .344/.453/.639 hitter with four homers and 12 RBI in 16 games against Minnesota. McCutchen’s career 1.093 OPS versus Minnesota is his highest OPS against any single opponent.

● The Brewers’ starters lead the majors with a 9.61 strikeout per nine rate this season. This is on pace with their 9.62 strikeout per nine rate from 2021 which finished fifth highest in the majors.

● After a 19-game stretch during which they did not allow more than three earned runs, Twins starting pitchers compiled an 11.08 ERA in their previous three-game series versus the Rangers where they dropped two-of-three.

● In 2022, Byron Buxton is batting .215 with 54 hits and 23 home runs. This makes for 42.3% of Buxton’s hits being home runs, the highest mark among all official MLB qualifiers.

● Twins OF Alex Kirilloff has a .340/.375/.580 slash line with three homers and 13 RBI in his last 15 games. He's hitting .190 with no homers and 18 strikeouts in 19 home games this season compared to .356 with three homers and nine strikeouts in 13 road contests.

DODGERS (56-29) at CARDINALS (47-42)

● Last season, the Dodgers won five of eight games (including a 3-1 win in the Wild Card) in the matchup, but the teams split their four games in St. Louis. All three of the Cardinals’ wins came by exactly one run, while all their losses were by multiple runs.

● The Dodgers have won seven straight games with six of those wins being by two runs or less. It is the third time this season that they have won seven straight with Los Angeles joining the Yankees as the only MLB teams in 2022 with three win streaks of seven games or longer.

● Freddie Freeman went 4-for-5 on Sunday vs. the Cubs after having four total hits in his previous six games combined. It was Freeman’s seventh game with at least four hits since the beginning of last season with only Amed Rosario (nine) having more such games in MLB in that time.

● The Cardinals have been shut out four times in their last nine games compared to six times in their previous 80 games this season. Only three MLB teams have scored fewer runs in July than St. Louis (27).

● Paul Goldschmidt has not driven in a run in any of his last 12 games despite having 11 hits. It is Goldschmidt’s longest streak without an RBI since another 12-game drought in June of 2019.

● Justin Turner is hitting .397 (25-for-63) with four home runs, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored over his last 18 games. The Dodgers have gone 14-4 in those games and are 8-1 in the nine games in which Turner has multiple hits in that span.
