Mets Claim Righthander Antonio Santos Off Waivers From Rockies

The Rockies lost right-handed pitcher Antonio Santos on waivers to the New York Mets on Wednesday, the fourth player off the Rockies’ season-ending roster that is no longer with the franchise — for now.

Things can change, which was apparent with Jhoulys Chacin, who opted for free agency initially but has since re-signed with the Rockies.

Remaining on the open market are right-handed pitcher Jon Gray, infielder/outfielder Chris Owings, and shortstop Trevor Story, all of whom filed for free agency.

The 25-year-old Santos made brief appearances on the Rockies roster the last two seasons, making one start and nine relief appearances. He was 0-2 with an 8,83 ERA, allowing 18 runs, 17 earned, on 23 hits and nine walks in 17 1/3 innings.
