Rockies Claim Hilliard Off Waivers

The Colorado Rockies are reuniting with outfielder Sam Hillard, a 15th-round selection of Colorado in the 2015 draft. They selected the outfielder off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

To make room on the 40-man roster, Colorado placed right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela on the 60-day injured list. The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.

Hilliard, 30, debuted for the Rockies in 2019, and appeared in 214 games with Colorado from 2019-22, slashing .212/.294/.423 with 29 home runs and 71 RBI.

He was traded by Colorado to Atlanta in exchange for Minor League right-handed pitcher Dylan Spain on Nov. 6, 2022. He logged 40 games with Atlanta last season, slashing .236/.295/.431 with three home runs and six RBI, and was acquired by Baltimore off waivers from Atlanta on Nov. 1, 2023.
