Rodgers Among Six Rockies Prospects Ranked in Baseball America Top 20s
Brendan Rodgers, ranked the top prospect in the Rockies farm system, was No. 3 on Baseball America’s prospect list for the Double-A Eastern League in 2018, behind Valdimir Guerrero, Jr., and Bo Bichette, both with Toronto’s New Hampshire affiliate.
Rodgers was one of six Rockies prospects ranked among the top 20 in their full-season minor-league. In addition to Rodgers, right-handed pitcher Peter Lambert was ranked No. 9 in the Eastern League. Both spent the final month of 2018 at Triple-A Albuquerque.
Ryan McMahon was ranked No. 10 in the Pacific Coast League, and Garrett Hampson No. 18. They both spent time at the big-league level in 2018, and were on the Rockies post-season roster.
Third baseman Colton Welker was ranked No. 8, and first baseman/third baseman Tyler Nevin was No. 18 in the High-A California League. Nevin is the son of former big-league third baseman Phil Nevin.
The Rockies did not have a player on their Low-A Asheville affiliate ranked among the top 20 in the Southern League.
