Farm Report: Three Isotopes Earn Post-Season Recognition for Skills

It has not been one of those summers for the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes to celebrate, spending most of the time battling to avoid a last-place finish.

Three members of the team, however, were honored by the Triple-A West League for their skills.

Brian Serven was selected the best defensive catcher. Serven led the league with a .990 fielding position, and throwing out 17 runners attempting to steal in 57 games.

Shortstop Alan Trejo was honored as the league’s best defensive shortstop, committing six errors and a .976 fielding percentage in 67 games.

And Julian Fernandez, who opened the season at Double-A Hartford where he made 30 appearances, was voted the best fastball in the Triple-A West League, despite making only 14 appearances for Albuquerque before his call-up to the Rockies. Fernandez’s fastball frequently surpasses 100 miles per hour, and tops out at 103 MPH.
